MAINTENANCE & CLEANING

How to maintain and clean your Multishape personal care products.

It is important to clean your Multishape product for maintained performance and good hygiene. Cleaning keeps the blades sharp, and lubricated. Razors blades that are not well cared for will wear out faster.

ER-CBL1 and ER-CBN1 - Battery Main Units

Cleaning Notes
• Make sure that the main body is turned off.
• The AC adapter cannot be washed with water. Disconnect the adaptor and wipe with a dry cloth.
• Do not wipe with thinner, benzine, alcohol etc. Doing so may cause malfunction, cracking or discoloring of the parts.

How to Clean
1. Remove the AC adaptor and head from the main body. Rinse the main body with running water.
2. Do not immerse the main body in water for a long time. Otherwise, the water may seep into the main body.
3. Shake up and down several times to remove the water. Be careful not to hit the appliance on the sink or any other object while draining the water.
4. Wipe off the water with a dry cloth and dry it well.
5. After cleaning, store the main body with the cap attached.

Cleaning Notes
• To avoid malfunction and damage, do not use hot water or any detergents other than hand soap.
• Do not wipe with thinner, benzine, alcohol etc.

How to clean with Water - Light dirt.
1. Make sure that the main body is turned off.
2. Apply some hand soap and some water to the outer blade.
3. Turn on the power and turn off the power after 10 seconds.
4. Open the water inlet and turn on the power again. To open, rotate the wash switch ring until its Clear Circle mark aligns with the Water spout mark of the head to open the water inlet.
If the trimmings box is removed, open the water inlet after attaching the trimmings box.
5. Run water down the water inlet, rinse well and turn off.
Do not pour water into the exhaust hole.
6. Wipe off the water with a dry cloth and dry it well. It will dry faster with the blades and the trimmings box removed.
7. After cleaning, be sure to store with the blades, the trimmings box and the protective cap attached.

How to clean with Water - Heavy dirt
1. Make sure that the main body is turned off.
2. Apply some hand soap and some water to the outer blade.
3. Turn on the power and turn off the power after 10 seconds.
4. Remove the head. Make sure the main body is turned off. Remove the head while pushing the head release button.
5. Remove the blades.
6. Remove the trimmings box. Rotate the wash switch ring until its Clear Circle mark aligns with the Hash symbol mark of the head.
7. Rinse them with running water. Make sure to cover the drainage outlet of wash basin to prevent the inner blade from flowing away.
8. Wipe off the water with a dry cloth and dry it well. It will dry faster with the blades and the trimmings box removed.
9. After cleaning, be sure to store with the blades, the trimmings box and the protective cap attached.

How to clean with the Cleaning Brush
1. Make sure that the main body is turned off.
2. Remove the head.
3. Remove the blades.
4. Remove the trimmings box.
5. Brush off any hair trimmings from the head, blades and the trimming box.
• Be careful not to deform the inner blade.
• Be careful not to damage the filter.

How to open and close the water inlet

To Open:
Rotate the wash switch ring until its Clear Circle mark aligns with the Water spout mark of the head to open the water inlet.

To Close:
Rotate the wash switch ring until its Clear Circle mark aligns with the gray solid circle mark of head.

How to remove the mounting and trimmings box
To Remove:
Rotate the wash switch ring until its Clear Circle mark aligns with the Hash symbol mark of the head.

To Mount:
Align the Clear Circle mark of the trimmings box with the Hash symbol mark of the head.
Rotate the wash switch ring until its Clear Circle mark aligns with the gray solid circle mark of head.

How to remove and mount the Head
Make sure that the main body is turned off.

To Remove:
Remove the head while pushing the head release button.
Stand the head when it is removed.

To Mount:
Mount the head to the main body until it clicks.

Cleaning Notes

How to clean with Water
1. Apply some hand soap and some water to the system outer foil.
2. Turn on the power and turn off the power after 20 seconds.
3. Remove the head by pushing the head release button.
4. Remove the outer foil by pushing the foil release button and pull down the system outer foil.
• Do not press the system outer foil release buttons with excessive force. Doing so may bend the system outer foil, preventing complete attachment to the foil frame
5. Rinse them with running water.
6. Shake up and down several times to remove the water.
• Be careful not to hit the appliance on the sink or any other object while draining the water.
7. Wipe off the water with a dry cloth and dry it well.
• Allow the head to dry in the shade, avoid direct sunlight,
• Do not dry the appliance with a dryer or a fan heater.
8. Lubricate after cleaning and store the head with the protective cap attached.

How to clean with the Cleaning Brush
1. Remove the head by pushing the head release button.
2. Remove the outer foil by pushing the foil release button and pull down the system outer foil.
• Do not press the system outer foil release buttons with excessive force. Doing so may bend the system outer foil, preventing complete attachment to the foil frame
3. Remove the the inner blades. Remove the inner blades one at a time.
4. Brush off any hair trimmings from the head and the outer foil section.
• Clean the inner blades using the brush by moving it in direction as illustrated.
• Do not move the brush perpendicularly against the blades as it will damage the inner blades and affect their sharpness.

How to Lubricate
Always lubricate after cleaning, when performance is poor, the unit noise is louder than normal or the system outer foil gets hot.

1. Reassemble the unit, mount the blades (if removed), the foil and head.
2. Apply one drop of lubrication oil to each of the system outer foils.
3. Turn on the power and allow to run it for approximately 5 seconds.
4. Turn off the power and wipe off any excess lubrication oil from the system outer foil with a soft cloth.

How to Clean

1. Make sure that the main body is turned off.
2. Remove the head while pushing the head release button.
3. Rotate the head and align the marks and pull to remove the brush.
4. Rinse them with running water. Thoroughly rinse the inner and bottom of the brush.
5. Wipe off the water with a dry cloth and dry it well. Do not dry the appliance with a dryer or a fan heater.
6. After cleaning, store the brush with the protective cap attached.

Cleaning Notes
The following precautions to avoid malfunction and damage.

• Do not forcefully pull or force apart the bristles on the brush.
• Do not wash the brush with water over 80 °DegreesC (176 °DegreesF).
• Do not damage or rub the waterproof rubber seal with hard materials.
• Do not wash the head with water over 40 °DegreesC (104 °DegreesF).
• Do not immerse the appliance in water for a long time.
• Do not hit the appliance on the sink or any other object while removing the water.
• Do not wipe with thinner, benzine, alcohol etc.

3. Run water down the water inlet.
4. Shake up and down several times to remove the water. Be careful not to hit the appliance on the sink or any other object while draining the water.
5. Wipe off the water with a dry cloth and dry it well. It will dry faster with the blade removed.
6. Lubricate after cleaning and store the head with one of the comb attachments attached.

How to clean with Water - Heavy dirt

3. Remove the Blade. To remove the blade, hold the head, place your thumb against the blades and then push them away from the head.
4. Remove the head while pushing the head release button. Stand the head when it is removed.
5. Rinse the Comb attachment, head and blade with water.
6. Shake up and down several times to remove the water. Be careful not to hit the appliance on the sink or any other object while draining the water.
7. Wipe off the water with a dry cloth and dry it well. It will dry faster with the blade removed.
8. Lubricate after cleaning and store the head with one of the comb attachments attached.

How to clean with the Cleaning Brush
1. Make sure that the main body is turned off.
2. Remove the comb attachment from the head. Be careful when removing not to cut your hand with the blade.
3. Remove the Blade. To remove the blade, hold the head, place your thumb against the blades and then push them away from the head.
4. Remove the head while pushing the head release button. Stand the head when it is removed.
5. Brush any hair trimmings out from between the stationary blade and the moving blade while pressing down the cleaning lever to raise the moving blade.
6. Brush the Trimmer head.
7. Lubricate after cleaning and store the head with one of the comb attachments attached.

How to Lubricate
Apply the lubrication oil to the blade before and after each use.

Always lubricate after cleaning, when performance is poor, the unit noise is louder than normal or the system outer foil gets hot.

1. Make sure that the main body is turned off.
2. Remove the blade.
3. Apply a drop of the lubrication oil to each indicated point.
4. Attach the blade to the head, turn on the power and allow it to run it for approximately 5 seconds.


Failure to apply the lubrication oil may cause the following problems.

•The appliance has become blunt.
• Shorter operating time.
• Louder sound

Cleaning Note
Do not wipe with thinners, benzine, alcohol etc. Doing so may cause malfunction, or cracking or discoloration of the parts.

How to charge the battery on a Multishape module personal care system.

How to charge ER-CBL1 Li-ion Battery Main Unit

This Battery is included with all Kits including ER-CKL2 and ER-CKL1.

1. Plug the AC adaptor into the main body and the household outlet.
• Check the charge status lamp glows. It turns off after charging is completed.

• If the shape of the plug does not fit the power outlet, use an attachment plug adaptor of the proper configuration.
2. Charging is completed after approx. 1 hour. Check that the charging is complete. unplug the AC adaptor, then plug back in, if the charge status lamp glows and then turns off after 5 seconds, charging is completed.


Charging Notes
• Recommended ambient temperature for charging is 10 °DegreesC - 30 °DegreesC [50 °DegreesF - 86 °DegreesF]. It may take longer to charge, or the charge status lamp will blink quickly and the battery may fail to charge properly in extremely high or low temperatures.
• When charging the main body for the first time or when it has not been in use for more than 6 months, the charging time may change or the charge status lamp may not glow for a few minutes. It will eventually glow if kept connected.
• If there is noise from the radio or other sources while using or charging the appliance, move to a different location to use the appliance.
• Charging each time does not affect battery life, because it uses a lithium-ion battery.
• The battery will deteriorate if not used for over 6 months, so make sure to perform a full charge at least once every 6 months.
• Continuous charging the battery will not affect battery performance.
• The use time after a full charge varies depending on the head.

How to charge ER-CBN1 Ni-MH Battery Main Unit

1. Plug the AC adaptor into the main body and the household outlet.
• Check the charge status lamp glows. It turns off after charging is completed.

Charging Notes
• Recommended ambient temperature for charging is 0 °DegreesC - 35 °DegreesC [32 °DegreesF - 95 °DegreesF]. The charging time may change or battery performance decrease outside of the recommended temperature.
• When charging the appliance for the first time or when it has not been in use for more than 6 months, the lamp on the main body may not glow for a few minutes, or the operating time may shorten. Please charge it for more than 8 hours in such cases.
• When the appliance is not used for 6 months or more, the battery will weaken (leak battery fluid, etc.). Fully charge the battery once every 6 months.
• If there is noise from the radio or other sources while using or charging the appliance, move to a different location to use the appliance.
• You can charge the battery before it is completely discharged. However, it is recommended to charge when the battery is completely discharged. • The battery life depends strongly on factors such as how it is used and stored.
• Continuous charging the battery will not affect battery performance.
The use time after a full charge varies depending on the head.

How to change the foil and blades on a Multishape shaver or trimmer.

• Replace your products blades once every two years or when the appliance is blunt.
• Replace your products foil once every year or if the foil is damaged. (Not all products have foils)

The blade on this product is not replaceable.
If the Blade is dull, clean the product, if cleaning does not improve the sharpness then replace the complete head unit ER-CNT1.

How to remove and mount the Head
Make sure that the main body is turned off.

To Remove
• Remove the head while pushing the head release button.
•Stand the head when it is removed.

To Mount
• Mount the head to the main body until it clicks.

Removing and Mounting the Outer Foil Section (Head)
1. Remove the frame by pushing the frame (head) release button.
2. To mount, securely attach the outer foil section to the head until it clicks.
Replace the head as described above

Removing and Mounting the System Outer Foil Section
1. Press the system outer foil release button and pull down the system outer foil.
• Do not press the system outer foil release buttons with excessive force. Doing so may bend the system outer foil, preventing complete attachment to the foil frame
2. Securely attach the system outer foil to the foil frame until it clicks.

Removing and Mounting the Blades
1. Remove the the inner blades. • Remove the inner blades one at a time.
2. Insert the inner blades one at a time.
